Frequently Asked Question

LRO and LRS
Last Updated a year ago

The LRO is the Land Recording Office available at https://members.americanstatenationals.us/

  • Records public records for people in the national land jurisdiction.
  • The LRO is operated by the Federation of States
  • LRO User Guide

The LRS is the Land Recording System available at https://americaunincorporated.org/

  • Records public records for people in the international land jurisdiction
  • The LRS is a private system run by a private ASN.

As of late 2022, the LRS is no longer publishing new public records. Existing public records will continue to be available.

From Article 3305:

"A Public Record from the State of Washington is as valid as a Public Record published on the Land Recording Service (LRS) or by the Assembly Land Recording Office (LRO). Public Records can even be established by publication in a newspaper, so long as the publication is sustained for an appropriate period of time and has reasonable distribution."

Regarding moving or transferring records from the LRO to the LRS:

There is no "moving" or "transferring" of files from LRS to LRO as these are separate, independent systems. Anyone who is recorded on the LRS can work with their state recording secretary to publish themselves on the LRO as well. Such users should:

  1. Create a LRO Member account
  2. Work with their state recording secretary to publish all previously recorded documents on the LRO. Fees are set by each state assembly and not the LRO.
